Key stage 2: Ages 7–11

During key stage 2, tuition often focuses on literacy and numeracy, especially if key stage 2 tests have uncovered that additional support would be beneficial.

Our tutors also help children face the Eleven Plus (11+), Common Entrance and other entrance exams with confidence.

Patient and supportive home tuition

Helping KS2 pupils get to grips with English, maths and science is important. Whether children are lacking in confidence or are reluctant learners, our KS2 tutors can help inspire and motivate with enjoyable and pressure-free private tuition.

Key stage 2 tests

The key stage 2 English tests aim to identify how children are progressing with reading and grammar, punctuation and spelling.

For children struggling with any aspects of English, supportive private tuition can help make it ‘fall into place’.

Similarly, children who are finding maths difficult, including mental arithmetic, can make great progress with patient private tuition.

Teachers report on children’s progress in in English, maths and science at the end of key stage 2. If parents feel concerned about their child’s progress at this stage, home tutoring can help them to catch up for key stage 3.

If students need support with any other subject at this stage, including languages or humanities, our tutors can help.

Tutoring for success in entrance exams

Parents eager for their children to succeed in 7+, 8+, 11+, Common Entrance and grammar school exams can help their children with supportive private tuition.

If you are a parent keen for your child to secure a place at a selective secondary school, you are probably already considering home tutoring to help ensure your child is confident and prepared for the tests ahead of them.

In a recent report by the Institute of Education, top grammar schools found 72% of students undertook private tuition prior to entry.

Securing school places with strong competition

Unsurprisingly, the parents most likely to enlist home tutors live in areas with intense competition for school places. The time and dedication a private tutor provides can help a pupil to score highly enough to receive an offer from their preferred school.
